What To Expect

Shenzhen Dapeng Fortress
You will meet your guide in the lobby of your Shenzhen hotel at about 08:30am and begin to take your “Find the Shenzhen Tour” from here. Your first visit today is to the Dapeng Ancient Fort an exceptionally well preserved Ming Dynasty fortification first built in 1394.  The purpose of the Dapeng Fort was to protect the approaches to the Pearl River mainly from pirates, but later the fort developed into a small town and today provides an excellent example of a fortified Ming Dynasty township.  During your visit you can see the small museum that gives a very good explanation of the fort, there are several small temples and many wells still being used today.  The three remaining gates are in very good condition as are the houses of famous naval leaders that still stand inside the walls.

Continue to your visit to the Crane Hakka Museum(He Jia Xin Ju) which was built and completed by Luo families in the year of 1817(Qing Dynasty). The museum covers an area of 24,816 square meters with building area of 14,530 square meters. It is 166 meters in width from the South to the North and 109 meters in length from the east to the west. With holding several hundreds of rooms, the whole building complex was like a maze which was composed of inside and outside shaped like two squares. Till now, Shenzhen Crane Hakka museum is one of the biggest and best preserved enclosed buildings. For this reason, it is of great significance to study Hakka’s folk-custom, culture, patriarchal system and family spirit.
